Celebrating the life of
James Desmond Patterson
September 08, 1924 - August 22, 2011
James Desmond Patterson, Sr., 87, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 after a long illness. He was a World War II Pacific Veteran. In 1947 he and his father, Roscoe Patterson started a business known as Patterson Car & Home Supply located on East Broad and Liberty Streets in Savannah. Over the years the business relocated several times and evolved into a marine business selling boats and accessories Patterson Company on Skidaway Road. In 1994 the business was closed and he retired and spent many years enjoying his favorite hobby, fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Lillie Mae Patterson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty G. Patterson, one son, James Desmond Patterson, Jr., two daughters, Patricia Patterson and Elizabeth Woods, and several grandchildren.
There will be a private burial at New Hope Cemetery in Leefield, Georgia.

Mr. Patterson was a one of a kind. He was a dear freind to my grandfather, Jim Lynes, which made him a freind of mine. Although he will be missed, he has gone on to be in a better place. Farewell old freind.
